The “Supervise Metal Scaffold in Marine Industry” course aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills in supervising marine scaffolding activities in marine related industries.
Entry Requirements
- Successfully completed Marine Metal Scaffolding Course for Scaffolders. Proof of entry requirement includes the submission of Certificate of Successful Completion or WSQ Certificate of Attainment (SOA).
- Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy Level 4 and above.

- Roles and Responsibilities of a Marine Metal Supervisor.
- Composition of Scaffold.
- Scaffolding system; details, types and uses of scaffolds.
- Handling of scaffold materials..
- Ship structures – names and parts
- Legal requirements.
- Stability, centre of gravity and loading of scaffolds.
- Drawings/sketches of various types of scaffolds.
- Erecting hanging scaffolds – procedures, methods, anchoring points, safety precautions.
- General guidelines to alter, modify, add, inspect, assessment of scaffold.
- Developing scaffold checklist.
- Scaffolding safety.
