For Whom
The “Assess Shipyard Safety for Hot-Work Certification” course is designed for personnel appointed to perform the role of Safety Assessors for hot work certification in shipbuilding and ship repairing environment.

Entry Requirements

    • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 6 and above.
    • Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 6 and above.

      • Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act & WSH (Shipbuilding & Ship-repairing) Regulations
      • Roles of Safety Assessors (Hot work Certification)
      • Accident Prevention Principle
      • Chemistry of Fires and Explosions
      • Gas Free Inspections carried out by Petroleum Inspectors appointed under the PSA (Dangerous Goods, Petroleum and Explosives) Regulations
      • Guidelines for the approval of hot works
      • Learning points arising from Accident Case Studies on Fires and Explosions
      • Safety Practices during the cleaning and repairs of tankers
      • Operations and inspections of tankers and other vessels
      • Occupational Health and its importance
      • Meters to measure and detect oxygen, flammable and toxic vapours/gases
      • Permit-to-work system in shipyards and Vessel Safety Coordination Committee

Qualification or experience of facilitators:

A facilitator and assessor of this course will possess the following:

  1. Registered WSH Officer or OSH practitioner with at least 3 years working experience in the marine industry; and
  2. Possess at least a relevant and recognized diploma or equivalent; and
  3. Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA)
  4. Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health

Certification

Based on the successful completion of the course and assessment, a certificate of achievement endorsed by Vision Global Engineering & Safety Services Pte Ltd will be issued to all participants.
